Signatures of Lorentz Violation in Continuous Gravitational-Wave Spectra of Ellipsoidal Neutron Stars

چکیده
We study effects of Lorentz-invariance violation on the rotation neutron stars (NSs) in minimal gravitational Standard-Model Extension framework, and calculate quadrupole radiation generated by them. Aiming at testing Lorentz invariance with observations continuous waves (GWs) from rotating NSs future, we compare GW spectra a ellipsoidal NS under Lorentz-violating gravity those Lorentz-invariant one. The former are found to possess frequency components higher than second harmonic, which does not happen for latter, indicating be potential signatures NSs.

Cosmological Gravitational Wave Background from Phase Transitions in Neutron Stars
It has recently been suggested that collapse of neutron stars induced by a phase transition to quark matter can be a considerable source of gravitational waves with kHz frequencies. We demonstrate that if about one percent of all neutron stars undergo this process, the resulting cosmological gravitational wave background would reach about 10 times the critical density. The background would peak...
متن کاملParameter choices and ranges for continuous gravitational wave searches for steadily spinning neutron stars
We consider the issue of selecting parameters and their associated ranges for carrying out searches for continuous gravitational waves from steadily rotating neutron stars. We consider three different cases: (i) the ‘classic’ case of a star spinning about a principal axis; (ii) a biaxial star, not spinning about a principal axis; (iii) a triaxial star spinning steady, but not about a principal ...
متن کاملGravitational wave emission from rotating superfluid neutron stars
In this paper we investigate the effect of a pinned superfluid component on the gravitational wave emission of a steadily rotating deformed neutron star. We show that the superfluid pinning allows the possibility for there to be gravitational wave emission at both the stellar spin frequency Ω and its first harmonic, 2Ω. This contrasts with the conventional case where there is no pinned superflu...
متن کاملDetecting gravitational wave emission from the known accreting neutron stars
Detection of gravitational waves from accreting neutron stars (NSs) in our galaxy, due to ellipticity or internal oscillation, would be a breakthrough in our understanding of compact objects and explain the absence of NSs rotating near the break-up limit. Direct detection, however, poses a formidable challenge. Using the current data available on the properties of the accreting NSs in Low Mass ...
